Installing and using Windows XP Fax

To install the fax, Click Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. On the left side of the page, click Add/Remove Windows Components. When the Windows Components Wizard appears, put a check mark in Fax Service and click next, then finish. Now go back to the Control Panel and click on Printers and Faxes, when the next window appears, click on Fax and the below pictured Wizard will appear, click next.

The below window will appear, you can fill in all the blanks or the minimum as I have done.

In this window you can enable send and receive. You can also set the number of rings you want before the phone answers. If you do not plan on receiving faxes, just sending them do not put a check mark in the receive box. Click Next.

In this window you can put your number or just enter the word Fax.

In this window you can put your number or just enter the word Fax. I prefer to put the word Fax in both.

In this window you can have the fax sent to the printer automatically and also have a copy sent to whatever folder you specify.

Click Finish and you are ready to use the Fax. Remember you must be connected to a phone line to send and receive.
