Traveling with your Computer

Surveys show that a large percentage of fulltime Rver's travel with either a laptop or desktop computer. Rv Parks are well aware of this and are rushing to make high speed Internet available at their parks. In the past just finding a phone line to connect to could be a chore. Then RV Parks started making them available at certain locations in the park. However you needed a laptop to use these locations and they were still very expensive at that time. True there were a few parks that understood the need and promptly put phone lines to the spaces. Overall the need still exsisted and was not being addressed quick enough. Hopefully the RV Parks learned from the past and are willing to meet the Rver's need more quickly with the Wi-Fi service.

After having said all that, there is one distrubing thing I have noticed recently. Some of the parks are not doing their homework and are putting Wi-Fi in with the first company that comes along. This concerns me because we are already seeing lots of different companies offer Wi-Fi to the RV Parks. What this means to us is, we may have to sign up for service with more then one company in order to get Wi-Fi service over a wide area. That can be expensive. So until one company has most of the RV Parks, I would suggest going with a service that offers WI-FI at places not only at RV Parks, but other locations as well. Places that are easily accessed by us Rver's, such as truck stops and travel centers. That way we have more choices then just the RV Parks. In other words what good is it if you can only get Wi-Fi at a hand full of parks with your service. The other way, you can take advantage of the handful of RV Parks and also use truck stops and travel centers. They are plentiful and usually in good locations. You don't even have to get out of your RV to receive the signal. Just start your computer and you are on the Internet with unlimited time.
